Steven Mead & Elizabeth Mead
Steven is a mechanically minded driver who enjoys a variety of roles. He is competent in a variety of skills and thrives in taking on new challenges. Born and bred in Taranaki, he grew up around the farming world and has followed his family legacy in his passion for everything mechanical. He spent six years in Canterbury working in heavy transport and tourism. Married his wife, Elizabeth, in 2021 and moved up to Nelson, Tasman to drive a log truck in 2023. Now he is working as a contractor, predominantly contract truck driving and ski field operations.
Elizabeth has a marketing and business background and looks after our admin, marketing and business management.
About Mead Transport & Rural Contracting
This business was started with two main motivations routed from Steven's passion for the transport industry. The first was to allow for variation and change in the day-to-day, something that is highly valued by Steven but not often available through standard roles. The second motivation is from seeing how much pressure our smaller transport and rural businesses can be under when they are in peak season or have staff temporarily unable to work. We see providing short-term contract work as a great win for both our driver and the local smaller businesses. We also support businesses in their transport operation management.
